September 5, 2020: From Saturday, Guwahati residents are beginning a normal life after more than 5 months. The government on Friday withdrew the weekend lockdown and night curfew from the state.



The city has been under lockdown restrictions since March 24 when the first lockdown was imposed. Since then, they have been living amidst lockdown, unlock, partial lockdown, night curfew and weekend lockdown. Saturday is the first night after March when people will be able to move freely during night time also.





Even as the number of Covid-19 cases are rising, the government had decided to withdraw the weekend lockdown and night curfew in the state considering the economic point of view.



Chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna, in a tweet said, "Weekend lockdown and night curfew have been lifted , however, please adhere to all the COVID-19 protocols to keep yourself and others around you safe."





A detailed order said that all lockdown norms will remain in force in containment zones till September 30. The activities permitted in earlier orders will continue to be allowed in all areas outside the containment zones.
