July 30, 2020: After remaining suspended for a week, the inter-district transport in Assam has resumed for 2 days from Thursday.

The government on July 18 had ordered ban on travel within the state. However, it relaxed the ban on inter-district transport for July 30 and 31 in a revised order on July 22.

Inter-district movement of citizens is allowed on 30th and 31st July 2020 in the State of Assam subject to the strict compliances of COVID-19 regulations as detailed in the various guidelines of Government of India,” the order by chief secretary Kr Sanjay Krishna said.

After the relaxation, people were seen going to their respective destinations in private vehicles and public transport.

The transport department has arranged ASTC buses from Guwahati for the people going to various parts of the state. But on the first day, very few passengers were seen at the ISBT.

However, due to the night curfew, no night movement is allowed. The vehicles have been ordered to carry only 50% of their seating capacity maintaining the Covid-19 safety measures.
