July 09, 2020: The death toll due to COVID-19 in Assam has risen to 24 as two more patients have passed away on Thursday. 

The deceased have been identified as Sri Prosnna Kumar Haloi (70) of Beltola, Guwahati and Sri Ramsingh Hanse (56) of Karbi Anglong who were admitted in GMCH Covid ICU and were on invasive ventilation. They succumbed to their critical infections on Thursday morning. 

Expressing grief Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Very sad to inform that 2 more #COVID19 + patients Sri Prosnna Kumar Haloi (70) of Beltola, Guwahati and Sri Ramsingh Hanse (56) of Karbianglong admitted in GMCH Covid ICU succumbed to their critical infections this morning. Both were on invasive ventilation. My condolences.”

The total COVID-19 cases now stand at 14032 out of which 8726 have recovered till now.
