August 5, 2020: In view of the surge in Covid-19 cases in the state of Assam, the Tinsukia district administration has announced 7-day total lockdown in the district starting from today 6 pm.



Tinsukia deputy commissioner Bhaskar Pegu on Tuesday said that all the areas covered under the Tinsukia Municipal board and Makum Municipal Board will be under strict lockdown from Wednesday (August 5) to August 11.



However, essential services within the mentioned areas will remain open during the lockdown period.



The Tinsukia district administration has also directed the Rapid Antigen test for detection of COVID-19. The tests will be mandatory for all shopkeepers, employees; delivery persons etc. to open their shops and other permitted establishments in all market places in Municipal areas of the district.

So far 1,881 cases have been detected in Tinsukia district.
