November 22, 2020: The Guwahati Medical College Hospital will issue a medical bulletin at 10 AM on Sunday regarding health of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

The 3-time CM was put on ventilator support on Saturday and doctors termed the next 48 hours as very critical for his health.

Gogoi, who has been admitted in GMCH since early this month due to post-Covid complications, has also been suffering from multiple organ failure.

Health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma rushed to the GMCH in the evening and reviewed his health condition with the team of doctors looking after him.

Dr. Sharma told reporters that he had to be put on ventilator as the Non-Invasive Ventilator was not working. He has slipped into coma due to the deterioration of his health. "All efforts to revive his vital parameters are taken and next 48-72 hours are very critical for his health," said Dr. Sharma.

The team of doctors examining the veteran politician is in constant touch with the experts from AAIMS and are treating him according to their advice. Dr. Sharma also said that Gogoi's family has been regularly updated about his health condition and all decisions are taken with their consent.

86-year-old Gogoi had tested Covid-19 positive on August 26 and had to be treated at GMCH for 2 months for post-Covid complications. However, barely a few days after his discharge, he had to be re-admitted after his condition worsened.
