July 31, 2020: Assam Rifles jawan Pranay Kalita, who was martyred in an ambush in Manipur was cremated on Friday.

Kalita's mortal remains were taken to his native village at Bajali Halgirighat where the family members and relatives paid him their last tributes. Later, he was cremated with full military honours in presence of senior Assam Rifles, Assam Police and district administration officials.

Earlier, his body arrived was received at LGBI airport by City Police and Assam Rifles officials after it arrived from Imphal.

In Imphal, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh paid last tributes to Kalita and two other Assam Rifles jawans killed in the ambush.

Kalita and his twon colleagues fell to PLA bulets on Thursday when they were ambushed by the Manipur militant outfit.
