January 12, 2021: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on January 23, informed minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma.
With the election only a couple of months away, the PM is likely to launch the campaign for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on that day.
Moreover, union home minister Amit Shah is also likely to address two rallies at Nalbari and Kokrajhar on January 24.
The details of these visits were discussed during the meeting of state BJP leadership with the party national president JP Nadda which continued till wee hours of Tuesday.
During the meeting, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma and state BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass were present.
Nadda, who reached Assam on Monday, met the state leadership at the PWD Guest House, Amingaon. Earlier, Nadda attended a rally at Silchar on Monday before departing for Guwahati.
