June 24, 2020: Amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic good news has come up for the residents of North Guwahati.

The connecting ropeway between Guwahati-North Guwahati has nearly reached its completion and will start operating soon. This ropeway - which will be the longest ropeway in the country - will connect the two regions over the mighty Brahmaputra River and will make communication easy as people can cross the river in 7-8 minutes. Following the completion of the ropeway construction many high officials of MDA has examined the ropeway worth fifty- six crore rupees.
It may be stated that due to the ongoing heavy rainfall ferry service was temporarily suspended resulting in communication problems because of which demand for ropeway service as an alternative increased.
