July 01, 2020: Total COVID-19 cases have crossed 8000 mark in Assam with 572 new positive cases on Tuesday night, out of which 380 cases are from Guwahati alone.

As of now, total COVID-19 cases in Assam stands at 8407. Out the total cases, currently there are 2745 active cases in the state whereas 5647 of them have recovered and three have migrated. 

On the other hand, death toll due to coronavirus has rose to 12 as on Tuesday.

Taking to Twitter Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday midnight tweeted, “Alert ~ 572 new #COVID19+ cases detected today.

Today, 380 cases were reported in Guwahati City alone, and need for caution can't be overemphasized.

It may be mentioned that Guwahati city is currently under lockdown for 14 days till July 12 which was announced by the government looking at the rampant rise of COVID-19 cases in the city. On the other hand, other towns and areas will be having weekend lockdown.
