The Chief Minister said, “Spiritualism is one of the crucial elements of Indian culture. In our spiritual life,celebrations of festivals play an important role. Durga puja celebrated in the autumn season is not just a festival, it is an occasion which strengthens the bond of universal brotherhood and all other human virtues. It is a festival which symbolises victory of good over evil. Celebration of this festival fortifies peace, harmony, unity and integrity”.

However, amid prevailing COVID 19 pandemic, Chief Minister Sonowal appealed to the people to celebrate Durga Puja adhering to all safety protocols. He said that though the prevalence of infection of COVID 19 pandemic has come down a bit, the pestilence is still very much active in the absence of any antidote. So as long as no vaccine is produced, all safety protocols like social distancing, wearing masks, frequent hand washing, respiratory etiquette should be adequately followed by the puja organisers and devotees alike.
