August 2, 2020: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday paid a visit to slain Assam Rifles Jawan Pranay Kalita's residence at Pathsala.

August 2, 2020: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday paid a visit to slain Assam Rifles Jawan Pranay Kalita's residence at Pathsala and shared his grief and condolences with the bereaved family members. He paid rich floral tributes to the portrait of Pranay Kalita.



Chief Minister Sonowal visited the jawan's residence and empathised with the latter's wife, father and mother. He said that the state is proud of his valiance and sense of duty towards his nation. His sacrifice is a source of inspiration, devotion and dedication for the youth across the nation. He also said that his duty towards safeguarding the unity, sovereignty and integrity of the nation will not go in vain. Responding to a demand, Sonowal also said that the road leading to the residence of the slain Jawan will be facelifted and named after the name of the Jawan.



Chief Minister Sonowal also handed over a cheque worth Rs. 20 lakh to late Kalita's wife. Industry and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, MP Dilip Saikia and a host of others were present there during Chief Minister's visit.



It may be noted that Pranay Kalita along with few others from Assam Rifles, while on duty, were targeted by proscribed militant group in Manipur's Chandel district on July 29 and they succumbed to the attack. His last rites were performed in his native village at Ghatbar with full state honours on July 31.

The Chief Minister also visited Bajali Milk Parlour at Bajali. After having seen the several facets of the Milk Parlour and the devotion of the people associated with it, Sonowal exuded confidence that the Agricultural proliferation started across the State left no doubt to believe that Assam can really be self reliant in the days to come.
