BSF observes Police Commemoration Day

October 22, 2020: Keeping the tradition and ethos of the force high, “Police Commemoration Day” was celebrated on Thursday at Frontier Headquarter BSF, Patgaon and in Unit/SHQrs under Guwahati Frontier. On this occasion, rich tributes were paid to all those Police & BSF brave hearts who sacrificed their lives on the line of duty. Name of all those Police & BSF martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the year were read out and rich tributes were paid by laying wreath.

The “Police Commemoration Day’’ 2020 was attended by Shri Rajesh Kumar, IPS, IG Frontier HQ BSF Guwahati along with all Officers, Subordinate officers and jawans of BSF, Composite Hospital & 1st Bn NDRF Guwahati. The event is being observed every year to pay the homage to all police personnel who had sacrificed lives while performing their duties. Highlighting the role played by each BSF Martyrs, Shri Rajesh Kumar, IPS, IG Ftr HQ BSF stated that “No duty can be more as sacred than the  duty performed for security of the Nation. While tracing the history of Police Commemoration Day, he apprised that on 21st Oct 1959, a CRPF patrol Party was ambushed by the Chinese Army in hot Spring, Ladakh where 10 brave hearts sacrificed their lives for the Nation. Since then, this day is observed as Police Commemoration Day to pay tribute to police martyrs.

In the end, Rajesh Kumar, IG Ftr HQ BSF and all Officers Subordinate officers and jawans of BSF, Composite Hospital and 1st NDRF Guwahati observed 2 minute silence in the memory of personal who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
