August 6, 2020: COVID-19 positive cases in Assam have crossed 50,000-mark on Wednesday with 2284 new cases detected in last 24 hours.



There are currently 14429 active cases in the state whereas 35892 patients have been discharged. Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 121 with six new deaths reported on Wednesday.



Late Ramesh Chandra Medhi (81) from Kamrup (M), Late Ram Kumar Mahato (58) and Late Tarini Charan Kalita (60) from Dibrugarh, Late Badal Debnath (56) from Tinsukia, Late Kanu Paul (56) from Cachar and Late Lalbhanu Khatoon (35) from Darrang.





Reportedly, 59162 tests were done in last 24 hrs out of which 2284 cases were detected. Out of new confirmed cases 362 are from Kamrup (M), from 123 Kamrup (R), 157 from Nagaon and 177 from Dibrugarh.



Informing this Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Alert ~ 2284 COVID cases detected out of 59162 tests in last 24 hrs. Glad that our positivity rate is just 3.86%!
