August 5, 2020: The total number of COVID-19 cases in Assam has reached 48161 with 2886 new cases confirmed on Tuesday.

There are currently 13622 active cases in the state whereas 34421 patients have been discharged. Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 115 with six new deaths reported on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Late Sradhona Sarkar (72) of Jorhat; Late Pranab Saikia (43) and Late Aarati Limbu (60) of Tinsukia; Late Manik Sarkar (48) and Late Bhaban Likson (48) of Dibrugarh and Late Sajal Acharjee (63) of Sonitpur.

Reportedly, 59064 tests were done in last 24 hrs out of which 2886 cases were detected. Out of new confirmed cases 550 are from Kamrup (M), 294 from Kamrup (R), 213 from Nagaon and 201 from Dibrugarh.
