November 23, 2020: Normal life in middle Assam was paralysed on Monday due to a bandh call given by several Tiwa organisations.

The shops remained closed in most parts like Morigaon, Kampur and Raha while roads wore deserted look. However, the administration made security arrangement for the national highway passing through the area.

The 12-hour bandh was called by All Tiwa Students Union and many other Tiwa bodies demanding deferment of elections to the Tiwa Autonomous Council till an error-free voters' list is prepared.

Their other demands are inclusion of 124 villages into the council before poll, reservation of 25 seats for tribals in TAC in stead of present 23 and exclusion of Tiwa areas from Assam State Capital Region Development Authority.

The organisations threatened to go for 24-hour middle Assam Bandh on November 26 and 36-hour bandh on December 5 if their demands are not fulfilled.
