September 5, 2020: A long pending demand of the Bodo people was fulfilled on Saturday with the opening of a separate directorate for Bodo language. Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma inaugurated a separate directorate for Bodo and other tribal languages on the occasion of Teacher's Day.



CM Sonowal in his speech said that the Narendra Modi government at the Centre is committed towards development of all communities. He hoped that the separate directorate will help in the growth of Bodo and other tribal languages of the state.





Education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma said that the responsibility of teachers will be increased manifold after re-opening of classes as they will have to make up the losses of the last 8 months. For this, they may have to do classes on Saturdays and Sundays.





The Chief minister honoured 36 teachers of the with State Teachers' Awards in recognition of their service. The programme was also attended by minister of state for educatio Bhabesh Kalita besides education department officials.
