April 7, 2020: Nagaon police have arrested Aminul Islam, the AIUDF leader who represents Dhing Legislative Assembly Constituency for his alleged controversial statements about the condition of quarantine facilities and hospitals for coronavirus patients in Assam.



In an audio clip, purportedly of MLA Aminul Islam and another person, he allegedly said that the coronavirus quarantine centres in Assam are dangerous and worse than detention centres meant for illegal migrants.



Islam also had accused the BJP government in Assam of conspiring against the Muslims. He also alleged that the medical staff at the quarantine centres was harassing those who had returned from last month's religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz mosque in Delhi and that they were giving injections to healthy individuals to portray them as sick and coronavirus patients.



Police arrested the MLA early morning on Tuesday after detaining him for interrogating on Monday night.



Earlier, Islam had claimed that no one present at Nizamuddin Markaz had been tested positive with coronavirus and that there was no connection of Markaz with the spread of the disease. He also alleged that the media was spreading fake news in this regard.
