December 13, 2020: After ruling for 17 years, the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) is going to sit in opposition bench in the Bodoland Territorial Council.

The Hagrama Mohilary-led party is out of the new government despite emerging as the single largest party with 17 members but still 4 short of majority mark.

“BJP, UPPL and GSP are going to firm the next council in BTC. If he claims he can form, let him produce the 21 members first,” said minister Himanta Biswa Sharma.

He however clarified that though they are not partners in BTC, they are still together as NDA in state and there is no threat to the BPF ministers.

“We are not together in BTC. Till assembly elections, we are in alliance in state. What happens after elections is to be decided later,” Sharma said.

During the poll campaigns, both BJP and BPF hurled all the abuses at each other. But soon after the result, the bonhomie returned with Sharma and Mohilary congratulating each other over phone. Sharma has even went a step further and said that a new personal friendship had started with Hagrama from today.
