August 17, 2020: After a brief suspension, the ferry service between Kamalabari (Majuli)-Nimatighat(Jorhat) resumed from Monday. The service started with limited seating capacity.

The important ferry service was suspended due to the Covid-19 transmission in the island district. With the Unlock 3.0 coming into force from Monday, the ferry service started again. However, the service resumed with 50% seating capacity.

As per the Majuli district administration instruction, the ferry service will be available from Monday to Friday. The passengers have expressed happiness over the administration's decision to resume the ferry service as they had to suffer a lot due to the suspension.
