September 7, 2020: The death anniversary of great Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Madhabdeb was observed across Assam on Monday. On the occasion, special prayers were held at Xartras and Naamghars.

At the Barpeta Xatra, the bhakats held naam proxongo since the morning. Due to the Covid-19 situation, no large gathering of devotees was allowed.

At Dhekiakhowa Bornaamghor, the bhakats held naam-kirtan on the occasion.

Similar scenes were seen at the other parts of the state too.

Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal remembered the great saint and said his teaching would always continue to guide the Assamese nation for ages to come.
