November 12, 2020: Parag Bhuyan, a journalist from Kakopothar of Upper Assam's Tinsukia district died in a mysterious road accident on Wednesday night.



Bhuyan was run over by a speeding car carrying tea leaves in front of his house. He was rushed to the hospital, but could not be saved.



Bhuyan is brother of former MLA and Ason Jatiya Parishad (AJP) leader Jagadish Bhuyan. Namsai police have seized the vehicle and arrested the driver and the handyman.



Foul play has been suspected over the accident as he was working on a special story for the private TV channel he was working in. Journalists organisations have demanded proper investigation into the accident case.



Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal while condoling his demise, has ordered Tinsukia Police to probe the case and arrest the culprits. AASU general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi too has condoled the untimely demise of Bhuyan. He was the vice president of Tinsukia District Journalists' Association.
