December 14, 2020: Till the other day, hotel or resort politics was an alien idea for the people of Assam. But today, its not.

Hotel Lily on the GS Road at Khanapara has suddenly become the centre of Bodoland politics.

It all started on Sunday morning when UPPL, BJP and GSP paraded their newly-elected members before media at the hotel. Since then, all members were kept at the hotel.

However, the security was tightened at the hotel on Sunday evening. The new members were asked to stay put inside their rooms and switch off their mobiles.

The reason was a report that BPF leader Hagrama Mohilari has been trying to poach some of them.

This pressed the panic button in all the three camps forcing them to issue the diktat. The situation became such that minister Pijush Hazarika himself stayed at the hotel on Sunday night.

This forced the three parties to prepone the trip of the new members to Kokrajhar for the swearing-in ceremony by a day. Though they were scheduled to leave on Tuesday, the leadership wanted to play it safe and leave on Monday itself.

Earlier, new CEM Pramode Boro had a meeting with  state BJP president Ranjit Dass on Monday morning.

Boro will take oath on Tuesday as next CEM of BTC.
