May 22, 2020: Assam records its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases as 26 persons tested positive in Sarusajai Quarantine Centre on Friday, taking the total number to 256.



Reportedly, all positive patients are from Sarusajai Quarantine Centre, Guwahati.



"Alert - In the biggest one-time spike in cases, 26 cases are confirmed #COVID19 . They are all from Sarusajai Quarantine Centre", said state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Twitter.



"Total cases 256,Recovered 54,Active cases 195,Deaths 04,Migrated 03" he added.



Out of the 256 cases, 54 patients have been discharged while 195 patients are currently active cases.



The number of deaths due to the coronavirus are four and three patients have migrated from the state.
