October 20, 2020: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari virtually laid the foundation stone for the first-ever multi-modal logistic park at Jogighopa on Tuesday.



The Rs 693.97 crore park will provide direct connectivity to air, road, rail and waterways to the people. It will be developed under the ambitious Bharatmala Pariyojana of the Government of India.



The event was presided over by the Chief Minister SarbanandaSonowal, and was attended by Union MoS Dr Jitendra Singh, Gen (Retd) Dr V K Singh and RameshwarTeli, Assam transport minister Chandra Mohan Patowari and senior officers from the Centre and the State.



The Assam Cabinet in June approved the proposal to hand over 200 Bigha land to National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited for the construction of the Mult-Modal Logistics Park in Ashok Paper Mill, Jogighopa.



Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) is an undertaking under the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways, Government of India's Logistics Efficiency Enhancement Program (LEEP).
