October 5, 2020: In a recent development, the Jorhat District Sessions court on Monday has postponed the final judgement on Dr. Deben Dutta mob lynching case.



The judgement has been postponed as one of the accused tested positive for COVID-19.



Reportedly, the judgement was supposed to be declared today but it has been postponed to October 12.



Dr. Deben Dutta, the resident doctor of Teok Tea garden hospital, was beaten to death by a mob on August 31, 2019 following the death of a tea garden worker at the hospital.



Later, some tea garden workers alleged that the patient died due to negligence of the doctor and attacked him at his chamber where he succumbed to injuries.



32 accused have been arrested in connection with the case.
