November 12, 2020: The United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) top leader Drishti Rajkhowa has left the outfit after due consultation with the top leadership.

ULFA(I) Commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah told DY365 that Rajkhowa was allowed to leave due to unavoidable circumstances. "The development was going on for last 5-6 days. He was almost trapped in Meghalaya. All efforts to rescue him were failed. I can't let him commit suicide. He has lost everyone in the family, his wife is seriously ill. He had no alternative. I asked him to take this decision after a tough fight with my conscience. There's no one to look after his family. He has great contribution to the organisation, I can't forget that. Considering all these, he was allowed to leave."

Meanwhile, Drishti Rajkhowa alias Manoj Rabha is brought to Rangiya Army camp where his surrender ceremony will be held on Thursday afternoon.

Security forces claim that ULFA(I) self-styled Col Drishti Rajkhowa along with four accomplices self-styled Corporal Vedanta, Yasin Asom, Ropjyoti Asom and Mithun Asom had surrendered with a huge quantity of arms in Assam-Meghalaya border on Wednesday.

Drishti Rajkhowa has long been on the wanted list of the ULFA insurgents responsible for their activities in lower Assam.

His surrender is a major blow to the organisation.

One AK81 rifle, two 9MM pistols, 90 rounds of AK81 rifle, 9 rounds of 9MM pistol, 8 round ammunition of point 32 pistol were recovered from them.
