November 16, 2020: Koch Rajbongshi leader and general secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee Biswajit Rai has resigned from the primary membership of the party.

Rai, while announcing his resignation, alleged that he had a very bitter experience during his tenure in the Congress. He had joined the Congress in 2014 after resigning as the president of the All Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU).

Rai alleged that in these years, he was suffocating in the Congress. Criticising the Congress-AIUDF alliance, he said that those who termed AIUDF communal in 2016 are pressing for alliance with it in 2020. He also said that Congress will not be able to come to power as it has no issue to fight the election.

Rai was served a showcause notice by APCC after he was seen along with Himanta Biswa Sharma on November11. He was publicly felicitated at a BJP meeting in Kokrajhar.
