December 8, 2020: The 'Bharat Bandh' called to rally support behind the agitating farmers has thrown life out of gear in Guwahati and other parts of Assam on Tuesday.

Early in the morning, some protesters were seen burning tyres on the road at Guwahati Club area of Guwahati. However, police cleared the rood. Anticipating such acts, police teams have been deployed at all sensitive areas.

While some private vehicles are plying on the road, public transport vehicles have remained off the road. Some school buses are also plying.

Most business establishments have downed their shutters.

Due to lack of public transport, the office goer commuters have been facing problems. In many other places of Assam, the bandh evoked total response, thus paralysing the normal life.

While the agitating farmers in Delhi called the bandh from 1 AM to 3 PM, in Assam the bandh has been called from 5 AM to 5 PM.

A tight security has been put in place throughout the state for the bandh.
