Announcing this in a press meet in Guwahati, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, barring emergency services such as pharmacies, grocery shops and petrol pumps, all the government and private establishments like shopping malls, gyms, and schools, colleges, godowns and interstate transport will remain closed during this period.

Round the clock essential services - including police, health, fire, prisons, electricity and water supply - will be exempted.

The govt has also decided to shut interstate borders of Assam.
