The total cases in Assam may cross 65,000 by August 20, warned a letter sent to the Assam government by the Health Ministry. The Health Department received the letter on Thursday.

The Ministry has cautioned that in Guwahati alone, the total cases could go up to 32,000 by that time.

The Health Ministry has asked the state government to make arrangement for at least 22,000 beds with oxygen facility in all the districts to face any emergency situation.

However, the basis on which the projection has been made is not known yet.
