November 9, 2020: The Assam government has made Aadhar Card mandatory for students from 6-18 years. The government will provide the Aadhar card to the students free of charge.



Secretary of education B Kalyan Chakrabarti and Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu launched Aadhar enrolment centre at the Kamrup Academy in Guwahati on Monday.



The Aadhar enrolment will be open for students of 27 districts. Such centres have been simultaneously launched in all districts by the respective deputy commissioners.



In the first phase, six schools of the city will have Aadhar enrolment centres and students from 22 Panchayats of Guwahati can avail the facility.
