November 30, 2020: Come Monday, over 18 lakh beneficiaries of Assam out of total 22 lakh will start receiving Rs. 830 per month.

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal will launch "Arunoday"-the biggest ever DBTL scheme of Assam. Initially, beneficiaries of 29 district will receive the money. The scheme will not be launched in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) districts due to the election model code of conduct.

The government will require an annual budget of Rs. 2400 crore for this. Finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma said that the Rs. 830 will be deposited in the account of the female head of the family. "This will raise her stature in the family," said the minister.

"Of the Rs. 830, Rs 400 will be for medicine, Rs. 200 for 4 KGs of dal, Rs. 80 for 5 KG sugar, and Rs. 150 for buying fruits and other things. They are getting the rice for free," Dr. Sharma said.
