July 1, 2020: 140 more COVID-19 positive cases detected in Assam on Wednesday, out of which 122 cases are from Guwahati alone.



The total numbers of COVID-19 cases in Assam stands at 8547. Out the total cases, currently there are 2885 active cases in the state whereas 5647 of them have recovered and three have migrated.



Meanwhile, the death toll due to coronavirus has risen to 12 as on Tuesday.



Taking to Twitter Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Alert ~ 140 new #COVID19+ cases detected. I must mention that 122 out of these are from Guwahati City and it is my humble plea to all to strictly follow lockdown guidelines to be able to flatten the curve. No need to panic, however.

It may be mentioned that Guwahati city is currently under lockdown for 14 days till July 12 which was announced by the government looking at the rampant rise of COVID-19 cases in the city. On the other hand, other towns and areas will be having weekend lockdown.
