January 19, 2021: Nearly 1000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines were damged at the Silchar Medical College due to negligence of the authority.

total 1000 doses of vaccines were sent to the medical college on Friday, a day before the formal launcvh of the vaccination programme.

However, the vaccination team got the shock on Saturday morning when they found the doses in frozen condition. The vaccines have to be kept between 10-18 degree celsius. But the vaccine doses were kept at temperature much below that resulted in freezing of the same. Because of this, all the doses ere damaged before they could be used.

As a damage control measure, the health department sent additional 100 doses to the medical college.
