August 23, 2020: The State Disaster Management Authority has imposed total lockdown in 3 Barak Valley district for 10 days.

August 23, 2020: Concerned over the rapid community transmission of the Covid-19 cases in the 3 districts of the Barak valley, the State Disaster Management Authority has imposed total lockdown in these district for 10 days. The lockdown will be effective from August 26 to September 4.





The deputy commissioners of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi wrote to the state chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna apprising him of the situation in their respective districts and the need for a total lockdown. After reviewing the situation, the chief secretary, who also heads the State Disaster Management Authority has given his nod for 10-day period while ensuring compliance of all directives issued by the home ministry.





In the last few days, the number of fresh Covid-19 cases have increased alarmingly in the 3 valley districts.
