February 15, 2018: PM Narendra Modi has today kicked off a day-long visit to Arunachal Pradesh and poll-bound Tripura, where he was scheduled to participate in a host of programmes.

In Itanagar, PM Modi launched a new 24x7 Doordarshan channel, known as DD Arun Prabha. The channel is meant to showcase programmes on the northeast states diverse cultures. This will be the second Doordashan channel dedicated to the northeast, after DD North-East, which telecasts entertainment and information-based programmes.

PM Modi inaugurated the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre at a programme in Itanagar. Along with that he also inaugurated Arunachal Pradesh's Civil Secretariat Complex in Itanagar and laid the foundation stone of the academic block at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science.

During addressing the huge crowd, PM Narendra Modi today said his ministers and officials were visiting the area "very regularly".  He questioned the need for holding meetings with state leaders only in the national capital, and said "everybody should go to all states".

He said he set the ball rolling by going to Shillong for a meeting of the North-Eastern Council. "I can tell you with great pride that ministers and officials from the Centre are visiting the Northeast very regularly," he added.

Complimenting Chief Minister Pema Khandu on the work he has done for the state, PM Modi said he has prepared a "top quality roadmap" on what the state will look like in 2027.

He also congratulated the young people in the state, saying they are eager to learn Hindi and the state is ahead of all others in the northeast in picking up the national language.
