March 24, 2020: Manipur reported its first case of the novel coronavirus on Tuesday with a 23-year-old girl who returned from the United Kingdom tested positive. This is the first case in the Northeast.



The patient has been put under isolation and is being treated at JNIMS, Imphal.



Earlier, a 4-year-old girl from Assam was said to have tested positive but she turned out to be negative for coronavirus after a retest.



Manipur is among the 30 states and union territories that are under a complete lockdown to contain the rapid spread of coronavirus. Over 470 people have tested positive for the virus in the country and nine have died so far.
