December 11, 2020: Situation in Vijaynagar of Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang district remains tense as several government offices were set ablaze on Friday.



According to police, Yobin Students, youth and public led by Yobin students union burnt down the EAC office, post office, SB office and later ransacked Vijayanagar Police Station.



A group of around 400 people came from Gandhigram with dao, lathi, bow and arrow and demanded “hamari mange purey karo”. the Civil helipad was also partially damaged by miscreants.



After setting the buildings ablaze, the group of people left from Vijaynagar to Gandhigram. However, there is no report of loss of human lives.



The protestors were demanding cancelation of panchayati right extended to the ex-Assam Rifles personnel. They also demanded to take out these settlers from Vijaynagar within a short period of time.



Kime Kaming, DIGP TCL rushed to Vijayanagar.



The situation though tense, is under control. Around 30 police personnel are present there and additional force is being rushed to Vijaynagar for maintaining law and order. Senior officers will camp there for the next few days, till situation becomes normal.
